The history of the company dates back to 1911 when Wilhelm Gilla established the first blacksmith workshop in Zblewo on Główna Street. His son, Maksymilian Gilla, like his father, was a well-known and respected blacksmith who specialized in horseshoeing and the production of agricultural machinery.
The next generation, Roman Gilla, laid the foundation for today’s Gillmet company in Starogard Gdański. Together with his son, Błażej, he built the Steel Construction Manufacturing Plant in Rokocin and the Hot-Dip Galvanizing Plant in Starogard Gdański.

The Steel Service Center in Starogard Gdański was established with European Union funding in 2012. It is equipped with specialized CNC machines including press brakes, guillotines, turret punch presses, plasma cutting machines, and a sheet straightening line. The center offers cutting, profiling, bending, and welding services for sheets. We manufacture various types of steel profiles such as Z-sections, omega profiles, channels, and troughs. Additionally, we produce components for wall facades. Our services include bending, cutting, and welding of sheet metal on a contract basis.
The Steel Construction Manufacturing Plant in Rokocin is our oldest facility, established in 1990. This plant boasts a rich array of machinery, including guillotines, MIG MAG welding equipment, presses, cutters, plate burners, and recently, a specialized laser for steel profiles. Its main focus is on manufacturing specialized steel structures used in the construction of steel halls and various industrial structures. The facility also features machining capabilities for the independent production of mechanical devices.
A unique aspect of the plant is equestrian production, including items such as horse boxes, stables, horse walkers, lunging arenas and various stable equipment.
The Hot-Dip Galvanizing Plant in Starogard Gdański was established within the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone in 2008. It includes a production hall covering 2000 m2 and an office space of 1000 m2. The galvanizing bath measures 7400 x 1350 x 2800 mm. In Starogard, we galvanize various steel structures, shipyard pipes, urban furnishings, gates, fences, and other metal products.
Adjacent to the galvanizing plant, a shot blasting facility and paint shop were established in 2016. Here, we offer services such as mechanical cleaning and wet painting. This allows us to provide both galvanizing and painting services, as well as the duplex method, which involves both galvanizing and painting processes.
HOT-DIP GALVANIZINGThe newest branch of Gillmet is the Hot-Dip Galvanizing Plant in Wocławy, near Gdańsk, established in 2019. It is currently the largest and most modern hot-dip galvanizing plant in Northern Poland. Its galvanizing bath is nearly 13 meters long, and it can handle individual loads weighing up to 8 tons.

AWARDS AND DISTINCTIONS
• 2009 – Gillmet was honored with the “Gazele Biznesu 2009” award, recognizing dynamic growth in business development. The company achieved a prestigious 1080th place nationwide and 87th place in the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
• 2011 – Gillmet received the “Diamenty Forbesa 2011” distinction. With a profit of 2.2 million and a capital increase of 3.8 million, Gillmet secured the 8th place out of 160 recognized companies in the Pomeranian Voivodeship and the 80th place out of 1600 recognized nationwide. The awards ceremony took place at the Hilton Hotel in Gdańsk.
• 2014 – Mr. Błażej Gilla, President of Gillmet, had the honor of receiving the “Businessman of the Year 2013” award. The awards ceremony was held at the Artus Court in Gdańsk.
